Suspect robs Mesa Payday Loans store and ties up the employee

A suspect got away with an unknown amount of money after robbing a payday loan store and tying up an employee.

The employee told police that an Hispanic male entered the business near Broadway and Power roads and walked to her desk with a small handgun and asked for money.

Mesa police Detective Steve Berry said the worker put money from the cash drawer and safe into a white plastic shopping bag handed to her.

The suspect tied the worker's hands and feet before fleeing the store.

Berry said the employee was able to quickly free herself and saw the suspect leaving on foot. She then locked the front door and called 911.

Officers did not locate the robber.

The suspect was wearing a dark blue-and-red Hawaiian print shirt and khaki pants and had a black bowl cut wig and mustache.
