The older generation used simple cotton homemade bags for groceries whereas the younger generation has to pay for paper and plastic bags each time they go shopping.
The older less educated generation returned soda and milk bottles to the grocery store while purchasing new supplies of soda and milk whereas the younger generation today does not collect and return the bottles. They either go to vending machines or the local convenience store.
The older generation washed clothes manually and dried their clothes in sunlight whereas the newer generation has to pays at a Laundromat or purchases a washer and dryer. The older generation was not paying for loads of water consumption for washing and loads of electricity for drying their clothes.
The older generation washed their infants/baby cotton diapers daily whereas the present generation spends a lot on disposal diapers. The recurring cost of new diapers is more than any other cost in raising a baby. .
The older generation passed used clothes among siblings/cousins and now the parents of the younger generation may not use the older brother’s shirt for younger sister as it is not pink.
The older generation watched a single program on a single TV/radio in the living room whereas the newer generation needs 100s of channels in multiple TV/radio connections in every corner of their house.
The older generation accepted manual lawn mowing as a good exercise for health whereas the younger generation requires a sophisticated gas guzzling lawn mower or pays someone else to mow the lawn.
The older generation accepted buying manual bikes for letting their kids go to school whereas the newer generation is scared of bikes and insist on big gas guzzling buses to bring back their kids from school.
Older generation accepted manual hairdos and manual shaves but now you require expensive gadgets to dry simple women’s hair and shave simple men’s beards.
